Interior Energy Retrofit Example

These images are from a kitchen renovation project where we increased the wall stud bay depth by 2.5 inches, and installed a full 4 inches of closed cell polyurethane foam. We then reinstalled the original fiberglass batts over the foam in what I like to call a "flash and batt" configuration. We also used a more aggressive installation of foam in the roof truss bays than was used in the walls.

Approximate stated R factor of new wall = 37
Approximate stated R factor of old wall = 11
