HERS Study/Blueprints

MTB designed this 2000 SF superinsulated saltbox, and worked closely with HERS rater Margaret Dillon of S.E.E.D.S. in Jaffrey, NH to refine that design and conduct a comparative study which helps quantify the cost, comfort, and environmental benefits of constructing high-performance building envelopes. We employed 12" Hybrid SIPS walls and high-heeled "energy trusses" to reduce both conductive as well as convective heat loss. The completed study anticipates an 81% reduction in space heating cost as compared with a standard practice, home construction technique.
